Europe 2017- Dubai, the perfect stop over!
Harley being Harley we had no idea what to expect before we jumped on our 14-hour flight from Melbourne to Stockholm, this time around we decided to break up the trip and spend a full 24 hours in Dubai, a little relief for us as well as the chance to visit such an amazing place!
The 14 hours seems like a bit of a blur, a little sleep, a few tantrums from Harley and a lot of play time with him on our laps!
Dubai is amazing, arriving in the hottest time of the year was a shock- 45 degrees (Celsius) smacked us in the face as soon as we left the airport. Arriving at one of the most glamorous, upmarket hotels (Medinat Jumeirah) I’ve ever stayed in around 9 am, to find check in wasn’t until 2 pm and our room wasn’t available yet. The very kind manager could tell we had just finished a long trip and that Harley needed some peace- so… we got upgraded to the 120 Sqm Ocean View Suite, complete with our own butler on 24 hours around the clock call, thanks Harley!
Our part of the resort- Al Qasr was surrounded by man-made canals that twirled through the resort, making it an option to catch gondolas to get to the beach or to the main reception and lobby areas, not something you see every day!
Shifting from outside to inside quickly to avoid the heat, we got to see a bit of the city and the amazing beach we stayed on. The water temp resembled that of a bath more than the sea, but we had to get in! With the heat in the mid 40’s the idea of taxi hopping around the city wasn’t going to happen, The Burj Kalifa (world’s tallest building) would have to wait for next time!
The rest of the day was spent in our suite enjoying the hospitality put on by the resort. The resort which is made up of 4 different hotels, making a beautiful picture perfect little town by the ocean, was like something I’ve never seen before! I highly recommended anyone traveling or stopping over In Dubai to stay/see this mind-blowing resort! I’ll attach the link below if you want to check it out!
That workout idea I had on the plane was something I started to battle with, at 8 pm and still 40 degrees, I decided I would get in a quick 25 min Bodyweight Built full body workout(indoors of course!) The following morning we are up early and off to Stockholm for 36 hours before we jump on another flight and head to sunny Croatia!
The 6.5-hour flight from Dubai to Stockholm was almost more difficult than the 14 hours of our first leg, the ups and downs of traveling with a young baby I guess, it’s all part of the fun!
Surprisingly the jet lag wasn’t as bad as it normally is, I mean I at least made it to 8 pm local time…a first for me I think! Battling the jet lag this time was most likely due to Wilda and I having to always be on call for Harley ( Wilda more so than me, I won’t lie) we aren’t to focus on how shitty we both felt, welcome to parenthood I guess! Those 36 hours in Stockholm whizzed by, Croatia here we come, something we have both been looking forward to for months, the beautiful little family orientated town of Punat, on the island of Krk.
